Experience: Minimum 3 years previous experience, Previous
experience in a Trauma Level 1 facility, Cath Lab experience
License: Must be registered with the American Registry of
Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Certifications: Must maintain a
Healthcare Provider certification (BLS) Must-Have: ARRT advanced
registry in one of the following: Cardiac-Interventional
Radiography (CI), Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI),
Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV) Description: Under
the direction of a Radiologist, specializes in the performance of
procedures of an invasive nature to aid in the evaluation of
pathological entities as prescribed by a physician. Explains
examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the
examination. Obtains additional information about the patient's
medical history as necessary. Prepares prescribed contrast media,
medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients.
Reviews clinical data on requisition, analyzes the anatomical
structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and assists the
Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors,
pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the
procedure. Ensures adequate supplies such as needles, catheters,
etc. are on hand and properly stored. Replenishes supplies as
appropriate. Actively assesses the patient's condition before,
during, and following all procedures. Manually controls the
equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information for the area
of the body being studied. May assist with the training of new
personnel and/or students who are assigned to the division.
Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of
radiation protection, which may involve shielding patients and
selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose using other
ALARA techniques. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures
high-quality image delivery. Completes all study indexing in the
Radiology Information System including study begins, study ends,
and completion of the study. Reviews and confirms as necessary with
Radiologist clinical protocols before performing the study.
Demonstrates on a consistent basis standards of excellence
including open communication, responding in a timely manner,
displaying a positive attitude, fostering innovation, and
respecting diversity. Performs Quality Assurance procedures as
appropriate. Completes all documentation in the medical record as
necessary and within the radiology information system to support
all clinical functions. Utilizes independent judgment in
determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning,
and safety practices. Performs related functions according to
